Students and mass people are showing demonstrations over the Magura rape incident and women‍‍`s rights organizations also raise their voices for the justice of women‍‍`s oppression.

The hotline numbers are 01320002001, 01320002002 and 0132000222, according to a statement issued by the Police Headquarters.
The numbers will remain open 24/7, said the statement.

Anyone can lodge complaints using the hotlines if he or she encounters or witnesses any form of violence towards women that include aggressive behavior, insults, eve teasing, and sexual harassment across the country.

The Police Cyber Support for Women will remain alert as before to provide legal aid to women and prevent cybercrime, it added, warning that Bangladesh Police follows a zero tolerance policy to prevent violence against women and children.

Home Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury yesterday issued a warning of stern action against criminals, stating that no one involved in mob violence, rape, mugging, or other criminal activities would be spared.

"Those who are organizing mob violence, committing rape, theft, robbery, kidnapping, extortion, or causing the deterioration of law and order will face justice. No one will be exempt," he said.

The home adviser made the remarks after visiting four police stations -Tejgaon, Dhanmondi, Shahbagh and New Market- in the capital.

Jahangir said his inspection intends to see whether the police stations were functioning properly during the holy month of Ramadan.

He asked the law enforcement agencies to be more active, vigilant and alert in performing their duties as the government was determined to maintain law and order during the Ramadan.

Several hundred checkpoints/checkposts have been set up and the number of patrols has increased in crime-prone areas in the capital city to maintain law and order situation, he said.

Officials at various levels of the Home Ministry have also been assigned regular duty to monitor the security situation round the clock, he added.

During his inspection, the adviser visited reception room, detention center and ancillary facilities of the four police stations.

He also witnessed several check posts/checkpoints set up at various important intersections of the capital.

The home adviser, as well, monitored the activities of several patrol teams of the joint forces.
During his visit, Jahangir also spoke to security personnel on duty and given them necessary instructions to ensure safety and security of the city dwellers and maintain law and order.

Teen dies by suicide; key accused arrested

A teenager in Ramgati upazila, Lakshmipur, has reportedly died by suicide after being falsely accused and vilified during a local arbitration meeting, with the police arresting the key accused after the filing of a case.

The incident occurred on March 6, and her mother filed a case the following day.

Police arrested the key accused, Rakib Hossain, 24, in Laksam, Comilla, yesterday morning. He was later presented before the court in the afternoon. Rakib Hossain is the son of Md Khabir Hossain from Paschimchar Kolakopa in Ramgati.

On March 7, the teen‍‍`s mother filed a case against 12 individuals, alleging their involvement in the rape and inciting her daughter‍‍`s subsequent suicide. Rakib was named as the key accused. Following the case, police also arrested another suspect, Helal Uddin, bringing the total number of arrests to two.

According to police reports, the teenager was raped on March 1. On March 6, while her mother was tending to crops near their home, the teenager took her own life. Authorities later recovered her body.

Family sources said Rakib broke into the house on the night of March 1 and raped the girl. When her mother discovered what had happened, Rakib fled.

She immediately informed his family, after which they arranged a mediation meeting. However, the meeting failed to address the rape allegation, and instead, the girl was further vilified.

Additionally, Helal Uddin, another accused, allegedly entered the victim‍‍`s home and threatened to cut her hair and publicly humiliate her.

Overwhelmed by these threats and the false accusations, she ended her life the same day, the family said.

Ramgati police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Kabir Hossain said: "Rakib Hossain, the key accused, has been arrested, along with Helal Uddin, who played a role in threatening and slandering the victim. We are continuing operations to apprehend the remaining suspects."
