''Necessary action has been taken regarding fake money. Our cyber team will monitor the online cattle market.''
Habibur Rahman, DMP Commissioner
Thousands of farmers come to sell animals at markets in the capital during this time of Eid ul Azha. Along with this, the violence of criminal gangs increases around these big festivals. Criminals become reckless by targeting various markets and shopping malls, especially during Eid-ul-Fitr and animal markets on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.
Every year, the criminals keep coming in disguise around the sacrificial animal market. At this time, the cattle trucks are the center of extortion. These circles are known by different names including Oggan Party, Malam Party, Salam Party, and Vomit Party. Whenever they get a chance, they snatch everything from the buyers and sellers.
It should be noted that the scattering of fake money usually increases during these two periods. Every time during this time, the law enforcement forces announce their presence. They also arrested some members of the gang. But complete elimination of crime could not be possible.
However, special security measures have been taken in the Dhaka metropolitan area to prevent chaos and crime on the occasion of the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha. A monitoring team has been formed in the capital this time as always, keeping Eid ahead. Each market has a drone patrolling system with several levels of security.
The law enforcement forces said that no one will be spared who will extort from livestock trucks. Even if there is an allegation of extortion against any member of the police, action will be taken against him. The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) said that the members of the organization will provide security to the traders until they return home after selling animals in the market.
Detective Branch (DB) has already found a fake money manufacturing factory in Jatrabari of the capital. Last Saturday (June 8) morning raid in Kadamtali area of Jatrabari arrested four people including the mastermind of the local-foreign money making ring. During this time, a huge quantity of fake notes of Tk 200, Tk 500 and Tk 1000 and a huge amount of Rs 500 (Indian Rupees) were recovered from them. Apart from this, various equipments including paper, printers were seized for making fake money.
According to DB, the gang was preparing to release a large amount of fake money in the market ahead of Eid. They have been making fake money and Indian currency very efficiently with 22 mm paper, common colors and printers available in the market. After that he was spreading to different areas of the country including the capital through his 15 to 20 agents.
Urging Bangladesh Bank to be more sincere in preventing fake money, DB Lalbagh Division Deputy Commissioner (DC) Moshiur Rahman said that intelligence activities should be carried out throughout the year. Various activities need to be conducted. These gangs generate fake money all year round. A few days ago, one woman took Tk 50 lakh. As a result, it is clear how much fake notes they have left in the market. This gang has 15 to 20 agents, who are spreading counterfeit money across the country. He said to check the money very carefully during the sale or transaction of cattle and goats ahead of Eid.
Meanwhile, Dhaka District North DB (Investigation) police arrested eight members of the gang who were preparing to rob the Nabinagar-Chandra highway in Ashulia on June 5 by stopping the vehicle transporting animals for sacrifice and targeting various farms in front of the Palashbari bus stand and the nearby Habib CNG pump. .
According to police sources, there are 12 to 15 members in this robbery group. They also have more partners. Among them are cattle dealers and butchers. They bought the cow after the robbery. And before robbing the cows, the accomplices give advance money to the robbers. As a result, they also know when the robbery is going to happen.
When asked what kind of security measures have been taken this time, Dhaka Metropolitan Police Joint Commissioner (Crime) Liton Kumar Saha said that the security measures taken by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police last Eid was good enough. Since this is Eid ul Azha, we have to think differently. In big animal markets, the matter is extortion. Now those who will extort will not be exempted. Even if there is an allegation of extortion against a police member, action will be taken against him.
He also said that the Oggan Party and Malam Party are usually prepared in advance at the animal market. Buyers and sellers who come to the market are requested to be careful about them. Apart from this, the important thing is CCTV. Those who go out of Dhaka must check whether the CCTV installed in their house is active or not. Then we can easily identify if a crime is committed in an empty house.
Commander Arafat Islam, Director of the Law and Media Branch of RAB, said that every team of RAB is working in the field to prevent any crime around Eid-ul-Azha. RAB members will be deployed inside and outside the animal market. Our mobile raids and patrol teams will be deployed. RAB members will provide security for those who bring animals from different districts to different markets in Dhaka, till they reach home after selling.
Apart from this, we will have a support center in every market. He said that RAB's surveillance on roads and highways has been increased so that the journey can be carried out smoothly.
In this context, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMPR) Commissioner Habibur Rahman told the media that there will be coordination among those who will work in animal markets (volunteers and owners of animal markets, law enforcement forces). DB teams will monitor regarding Oggan Party and Malam Party in the Animal Market. People of the Oggan Party and Malam Party who are seen around animal markets and markets will be brought under the law immediately. Besides, necessary measures have been taken regarding fake money. We have talked with Bangladesh Bank. They will place their counterfeit money detection machines in animal shelters. Our cyber team will monitor the online cattle market.
He said that there would be detective police for the security of those who buy and sell cows. Besides, the highway police will work for those who bring cows in trucks from outside Dhaka. And for those who bring cows by sea, the naval police will take security measures. Besides, there will be drone patrolling in animal markets.
