Police set fire to gambling spot

 

A team of police, led by Islampur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Saifullah, torched an anti-social obscene journey and gambling at Togarchar in Islampur yesterday afternoon under the direction and intervention of Jamalpur District Superintendent of Police Syed Rafiqul Islam PPM (Service).

It was known that Shahidul (40), son of Lutfar Kazi of Noarpara Union and Makkar of Kazir Bazar area of Islampur Upazila, were playing anti-social activities, obscene journeys and gambling for the last two days in the name of managing the administration.

Locals said that if gambling are organized in the name of Jatrapala every night, there is a possibility of increasing drug dealership, theft, robbery in the area, including the spoilage of the youth of the area. In this regard, the locals sought the intervention of the Superintendent of Police of Jamalpur district to stop these anti-social activities in Togarchar through media workers.

On information, a team of police, led by Islampur Police Station OC Saifullah, conducted a drive in Togarchar yesterday afternoon under the direction and intervention of Jamalpur District Superintendent of Police Syed Rafiqul Islam.

Islampur Police Station OC Saifullah said that on the directive of Jamalpur District Superintendent of Police, police forces visited the spot yesterday and set fire to the stage built for obscene dances and anti-social activities in the middle of the Jamuna River in the remote char area. Such drives will continue to maintain peace and order in the area.
