Police strike on 11-point demand

Bangladesh Police Anti-Discrimination Central Coordinating Committee strikes on the 11-point demand and a number of police officers and members observed strike in Tangail's Mirzapur. On the second day yesterday, hundreds of policemen held this program in Mirzapur police station premises to collect demands and support the strike.

It is learned that Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police (Mirzapur-Nagarpur) Circle SM Mansoor Musa, Mirzapur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (Additional) Salahuddin Ahmed, Gogai Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge Adil Khan, Deohata Outpost Officer-in-Charge Gias Uddin, Bashtoil Outpost Officer-in-Charge Humayun Kabir, Deputy Inspector of Police Zahirul Islam, Sohail Mia, Fazlu, Habib, Sarwar, Mahabub, Moklesh, Shafiul, Anwar and other ASI level members have participated in the strike.

Apart from this, the 11-point demand includes- trial of killing of policemen killed during anti-discrimination student movement, Bangladesh Police will not work under any government or political party, and they will remain neutral. Police will not be on duty for more than 8 hours. Policemen will not obey any verbal orders. Promotion shall follow the same policy as BCS cadre officers. Several demands were made including increasing the annual leave of the police from 20 days to 60 days.

Meanwhile, as the main gate of the police station is closed, many foreignbound travelers who came for police clearance are returning without finding anyone. When this reporter spoke to two foreignbound travelers, they said that all procedures for going abroad are completed; only waiting for police clearance. Many people are not able to file complaint and GD again at the police station. Due to this, the service seekers who come to the police station are in trouble.
