Gopalganj
A van driver was killed and two others were injured in a three-way collision at Kashiani upazila in Gopalganj district on yesterday.The accident took place around 6 AM in front of Nurjahan Food and Agro Industries Limited at Bhattaidhoba bus stand along the Dhaka-Khulna highway yesterday. The deceased was identified as Titul Molla, 45, son of Rokman Molla and a resident of Bhattaidhoba village under Sajail union of the upazila. Locals said that a speeding truck collided with a batter-powered autorickshaw and subsequently fell on Titul's van, leaving him dead on the spot. Two autorickshaw passengers also sustained injuries at that time. Locals rescued the injured and sent to Kashiani Upazila Health Complex where the physicians referred them to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for better treatment. Kashiani Police Station officer-in-charge Md Shafiuddin confirmed the incident, adding that they have seized the truck involved in the accident and legal actions were being taken in this regard.
Dinajpur
Two people were killed and at least three others injured when a covered van ran over some three wheelers in Dinajpur's Ghoraghat upazila on yesterday. The accident happened around 7 am on the Dinajpur-Gobindaganj regional highway in front of Raniganj fish market. The victims were Abdul Gaffar, 68, hailed from Rangpur's Pirganj upazila, and Anwar Hossain, 50, of Kochgram under Birampur upazila of Dinajpur. Quoting locals, police said a covered van was going to Dhaka from Dinajpur in the morning. When it reached in that area, it lost control and ran over 5-7 battery-powered vans on the side of the road. Abdul Ghaffar died on the spot. Anwar Hossain died on the way to Ghoraghat Upazila Health Complex. Ghoraghat Police Station OC Nazmul Haque said the driver of the covered van has been arrested and the vehicle was seized.
Narsingdi
Two motorcyclists were killed in a head-on collision between a pick-up van and a motorcycle at Marjal union under Raipura upazila in Narsingdi district on yesterday afternoon. The accident took place in Marjal Bus Stand area on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway in the upazila. The deceased were identified as Darul Karar Sifat, 26, son of Akhtaruzzaman, a resident of the area and Ikral Hossain Sohel, 28, son of Iqbal Fakir, a resident of Sinishpur area under Sadar upazila in the district. Police said that a Bhairab-bound motorcycle collided with a pick-up van, coming from the opposite direction in the area, leaving two motorcyclists injured critically. They were rescued and taken to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital where the on-duty doctors declared them dead. The bodies have been kept in the district hospital for autopsies, said Sohel Sarwar, incharge of Itakhol Police Outpost. Police seized the pickup van and arrested its driver in the incident, he added.
Brahmanbaria
A private driver named Sakib Mia was killed after being hit by a lorry in Brahmanbaria's Vijaynagar upazila.The accident took place on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway in Budhanti area of the upazila yesterday at 11 am. Deceased Shakib Mia was the son of Gani Mia of Mohakhali (Wireless Gate) area of Dhaka. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sarail Khantiata Highway Police Station Margub Tauhid said that a speeding lorry hit a private car in front of the Madrasa in Budhanti area and the driver of the private car was seriously injured. In this situation, the local people rescued him and took him to Brahmanbaria General Hospital, where the doctor declared him dead.
Bagha (Rajshahi)
A four-year-old child was injured after being hit by a microbus while crossing the road. He died at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital yesterday morning after eight days of treatment. According to local sources, the accident took place at the Helalpur intersection of the Bagha-Charghat road of the upazila around 11:30 am on Sunday (September 23). The deceased child's name was Tara Khatun. In this regard, Bagha police station officer-in-charge Abu Bakar Siddique said that a child was killed in a road accident. Complaints will be taken legal action.
