Students demanding the withdrawal of false cases

Students of Kathalbari Degree College in Kurigram have formed a human chain protesting the inclusion of the name of writer, journalist and assistant professor Abdul Khaleque Faruk in the murder case and demanding withdrawal of false cases.

In addition to the general students, teachers, guardians and cultural activists also participated in the human chain program at Kathalbari bus stand on Thursday morning.

Teachers Shafiqul Islam, Kazi Farhad, students Shahin Alam, Abdur Razzak, Sumona Akhter and theatre activist Md. Shah Alam spoke on the occasion.

Speakers said Abdul Khaleque Faruk is a popular writer. He is a fearless journalist, beside poor students and helpless people. He is a pioneer of education, culture and library movement. If the false case against him is not withdrawn immediately, a greater movement program will be announced.

On August 4, Ruhul Amin, a student of Kurigram Government College, filed a case against three journalists for ordering the attack and killing of students during the anti-discrimination student movement in Kurigram. A total of 104 people were accused in the case.

The accused are Abdul Khaleque Faruk, district correspondent of Kaler Kantho and Independent TV, Humayun Kabir Surjo, Kurigram correspondent of News24 TV and Daily Sangbad, and Yusuf Alamgir, Kurigram correspondent of ATN Bangla and ATN News.
