The renowned Saberunnessa Girls' High School is located in Kendua town of Netrakona district. Every day its students have to hold their noses to enter. Because there is a garbage dump in front of the school, from where the stench is emanating.

It is polluting the surrounding environment with mosquito infestation. As a result, the health of the young students of the school and the surrounding residents are at risk. Teachers, students and parents have expressed their anger about their suffering.

It is learned that the school, established in 1983, now has 1350 students and 25 teaching staff.

On the ground, it was seen that there is a pile of garbage near the road in front of the school. As the days go by, the pile of dirt on the roadside is getting bigger. All kinds of garbage including spoiled vegetables, rotten hotel food, chicken scraps and household waste are dumped here. As a result, within a short period of time, they are rotting and causing bad smell. Students find it difficult to sit in the classroom due to the strong smell. In addition, the pedestrians traveling on the road are crossing their noses.

Rudesa and Rimi, students of class 8 of the school, say that we have to spend all our time in school in the smell. This situation has been going on for a long time. Class in this school is very difficult.

Guardian Ziaul Haque said, "I can't stand the stench. Even then I was forced to go to school. I strongly appeal to the authorities to remove the barracks here and place them somewhere else. Save our children. If this continues, the children will not survive.

Pedestrian Rezaul Karim said walking on this road makes one nauseous due to the stench. Apart from the school, there is a municipal building and Dudh Mahal next to this garbage dump. Therefore, it is necessary to quickly move the garbage from here to another place.

The teachers of the school say that despite repeated complaints to the municipality, the garbage was not removed from here. It is very difficult for us to take classes. We want to get rid of it.

Arup Kumar Sarkar, Resident Health Officer of Kendua Upazila Health Complex, said that there is a mental and physical risk to the child due to bad smell. There are various types of insects including mosquitoes in the dirt. Due to flies, there is a danger of children suffering from stomach ache, diarrhea and other diseases.

Mokhleshur Rahman Bangali, head teacher of Saberunnecha Girls' High School, said, "Due to the stench, the doors and windows have to be closed to take classes. Even then it is not possible. So stinky! If this continues, the children will get sick. Even after I repeatedly told the monthly law and order committee, there was no solution. I want a quick solution to the matter.

Dilshad Nasim Plaban, Chief Coordinator of Kendua Upazila of Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, said, "We will talk to the municipal administrator in charge (DDLG) and upazila Nirbahi officer about the matter. Hope the issue will be resolved soon.

Kendua Upazila Nirbahi officer Imdadul Haque Talukdar said that I came to know about this through you. Soon I will take measures to bring back the beautiful environment of education. Everyone should be made aware by campaigning through various festoons, banners and miking. Necessary steps will be taken to ensure that no one can throw any kind of garbage around the school premises.
