Traffic of city now normal

The indefinite transport strike called by owners and workers has been withdrawn after 36 hours, but the blockade of roads and waterways called by the hill students continues in Rangamati.

Transport owners and workers leaders sat in a meeting with the district administration on Sunday night. Later, the Malik Sramik Oikya Parishad withdrew the strike after 36 hours on the assurance of the administration.

Meanwhile, all types of vehicles were seen moving in the district town since yesterday morning. CNG auto-rickshaw is the only local vehicle in the city. Long-distance buses were also seen leaving. Life in the district is normal. Shops and educational institutions opened. Launch-boats are not plying on the waterways as the blockade called by the hill students is not withdrawn. Vehicular movement on Rangamati-Khagrachhari road has been restricted. Law enforcers have been deployed at various points on Rangamati-Khagrachhari road.
