Two women attacked over land dispute

In Meherpur's Mujibnagar, two women named Kamrun Nahar and Sukhi Khatun were beaten to bloody injuries due to a land dispute. The incident took place at Bidyadharpur Bazarpara of the same upazila on Monday.

In this incident, Sukhi Khatun's husband Abul Kalam Azad filed a complaint at Mujibnagar police station. The accused are Saiful Islam, Sahabuddin, Saiful Islam's wife Hasina Khatun, deceased Rahmatullah's son Chand Ali. According to the complaint, the accused entered Kalam's house and abused him in foul language due to a land dispute.

As Kalam was not at home, mother Kamrun Nahar and wife Sukhi Khatun abused them and barred them from entering the house, beating them with bricks and wooden sticks and inflicting bloody injuries. The accused fled when the neighbors came running on their screams. Later the two injured were rescued and taken to Mujibnagar Upazila Health Complex. Earlier on July 23, three accused Chand Ali, Kaif and Nais seriously injured Kalam by beating him.

Abul Kalam said, my mother Kamrun Nahar was brought up from a young age as my maternal uncle Islam Bux had no children. When my Nana came to her last life, she wrote all her property in my mother's name. Nana sold one and a half acres of land to Hashina Khatun in 1996. He lived in that land for a long time. As the 479 dag is next to the main road, Hashina Khatun and other associates of Nana, instead of taking the land of 478 dag, are demanding to occupy the land of 479 dag. The court case is ongoing.

As the Hashina Khatun Deed and Khazna Kharij documents could not be shown to the court, the court ruled in our favor. Because of which my mother and wife were attacked. Again threatening to attack and kill. As the accused were absconding after the attack, their statement could not be taken.
