However, traders said that the price of vegetables has increased in the markets from the district town to the village level. Because local farmers' vegetables are not available in the market, the prices are increasing.

They also said the country sees low vegetable production due to heavy rains and floods contributing to price rise of vegetables in the markets.

A buyer said usually vegetable price remains a bit higher at the lean period of autumn as heavy rain and flood also damaged the vegetable farmland this year, rising its price causing people to suffer.

Some middlemen are also responsible for its price hike, he added, urging the government to maintain strict monitoring in kitchen markets to contain audacity of the middlemen to keep controlling markets.

Julhas, a buyer who came to buy vegetables, said that the price of each vegetable in the markets of Sunamganj is above 100 taka. We have to face great danger when we come to buy vegetables.

Another buyer Rafiq Alam said that even 15 to 20 days ago, the price of many vegetables in Sunamganj was below Tk 100, now the price of each vegetable is above Tk 100.
