Youth returned by help of police

A mentally unstable youth was brought back to his family with the help of the police in Kurigram.

According to the police, on July 30, 2024, local residents saw a young man roaming suspiciously in the Ghogadaha Union area of ​​Sadar Upazila of Kurigram district and beat him on suspicion of being a thief. Later, Kurigram Thana police received the information through National Emergency Service number 999 and arrived at the scene, rescued the youth and provided first aid.

Later, the police inspector of Kurigram police station investigated after talking to the youth and realized that he was mentally unstable and he revealed his name as Omar Farooq. But he could not say his address correctly.

Later, the police started searching in different police stations of the surrounding districts. At one point, Kurigram Thana police confirmed his address as Kaliganj Thana of Lalmonirhat district. Later, Bached Ali, the father of the mentally unstable young man, was informed in that area, and on July 31, the Kurigram Thana Police returned him to his family through the Women, Children, Elderly and Disabled Service Desk.

Additional Superintendent of Police Md Ruhul Amin, Media Spokesperson of Kurigram District Police said, "We have returned various vagrants and mentally unstable respectable citizens to their families in the past." Kurigram District Police is committed to the safety of the honorable citizens of Kurigram District.
