Election Commission (EC) is taking the ballot papers for the 12th National Parliament Elections from the Kaptai Karnaphuli Paper Mill (KPM) in Rangamati. KPM authorities have already started production and supply of ballot papers.
It was known that in the 12th National Parlianment elections, voting will be done through ballot papers. Election Commission (EC) has ordered to collect about 1600 metric tons of paper from KPM under Kaptai Upazila to print the ballot paper for the national election. KPM authorities have already started producing the paper as per the demand and supplying it to the Election Commission. According to KPM sources, several election papers was delivered to the EC office in several stages since last October. Following this, on November 7, KPM supplied 7 more trucks with election ballot papers.
KPM Managing Director AKM Anisuzzaman said that EC demanded 1,600 metric tons of white, red and green paper from KPM for printing the ballot papers of the National parliament elections,. The value of these papers is about 20 crore taka. The authorities are trying their best to provide the papers to EC in time. In addition, the necessary pulp was brought from abroad as raw material for paper production.
Abdullah R Mahmud, General Manager (Administration) of the mill said that despite various adversities, workers and officials of all levels are working hard to supply the papers to the Election Commission within the stipulated time. It is expected that all the papers can be provided in due time.
