The Ameer of the Jamaat is Dr. Shafiqur Rahman. This information was informed by a source of the party on Thursday (October 27) afternoon.
According to sources, the results of Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer elections have been announced. Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has been re-elected as the Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami for the term of 2023-2025.
Dr. Shafiqur Rahman`s village home is in Bhatara area of Kulaura, Sylhet. His political career started with Jasad Chhatra League. In 1974, He joined Jasad Chhatra League while studying in MC College, Sylhet.
After passing from there, he joined Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College for MBBS and joined the student camp. He was later elected as the camp president in this institution. Later, the president of the city student camp was Dr. Shafiqur Rahman.
After coming to Jamaat, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman served as Amir of Sylhet metropolis, undivided district Amir and Assistant Secretary General of the Central Committee and is currently performing the duties of Ameer.
Note: Last year 2019 voting started on 17th October and ended on 10th November. On November 12 that year Dr. Shafiqur Rahman was declared as Ameer.
