Bangladesh national cricket team pacer Al-Amin Hossain has divorced his wife Ishrat Jahan. This information was given in a written reply given to the court on Thursday. Al-Amin is accused of torturing his wife. A case has also been filed against him for this.
Advocate Shamsuzzaman said al-Amin, an accused in the case filed by his wife, appeared before the court on Thursday. He then submitted a written reply to the court through a lawyer. It is mentioned that he divorced his wife on August 25. However, his wife did not receive any divorce papers.
On September 7, Ishrat Jahan filed a case against Al-Amin in the court. According to the case, Al-Amin and Ishrat got married on December 26, 2012. They have two sons. For quite some time al-Amin did not provide for his wife and children and has been avoiding it without looking for him. On August 25 at around 10:30 pm, Al-Amin came home and demanded Tk 20 lakh from his wife for dowry. When Ishrat Jahan refused to pay the money, Al-Amin kicked her with a random kill punch and injured her in different parts of the body and said that she would not have a family with her. Ishrat Jahan telephoned 999 and asked for help, the police came and rescued her.
Al-Amin surrendered before the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shafi Uddin in the case and got bail on September 27. The court granted him bail till October 6.
