  • Cumilla's eyes on 5th title
  • Barishal dreams title first time

The curtain of the 10th Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) is coming down today. Fortune Barishal will face four-time champions Cumilla Victorians this evening at the Mirpur Shere-Bangla Cricket Stadium.

Cumilla has won the title four times before. The franchise has won consecutive championships in the previous two seasons as well. These two teams also met in the final of the 2021-22 season, Cumilla won that time. After a gap of one year, these two teams are facing again in the final. This fight for Barishal is therefore a bit of revenge. However, none of the previous captains of the two teams are this time. But those who are there, also experienced.

Cumilla Victorians have always been the heavyweight team in the BPL. The four-time champion team will play the final this time as well. Cumilla, who have won consecutive championships in the last two seasons, are now in front of a hat-trick of titles. Cumilla's head coach Mohammad Salahuddin is looking for an additional advantage before going to the final. Most of the players of the Cumilla team, who are going to play the final for the fifth time this time, have played in the BPL final before. Here is the satisfaction of Coach Mohammad Salahuddin.

While talking to the media in Mirpur, Salahuddin said, it is normal that everyone is a little excited before the final match. Everyone is thrilled. Our team has an advantage as most of the players have experience in finals. They can handle pressure well. Foreign cricketers also have a lot of experience in finals like the locals. It can be a good advantage for us. As the final match will be a matter of nerves. Because of the game experience, I think we will be in a little bit better situation.

Apart from this, Mushfiqur Rahim, a player of the opposing team Fortune Barishal, commented that he wants to win the trophy after confirming the final. In response to those words, Salahuddin said that all the two teams will want the trophy. What should I say Mushfiq you take the trophy? Everyone comes to win the trophy. Mushfiq is also. We have also come to play. No one will give a chance anyone here.

Meanwhile, a trophy exhibition was held at Ahsan Manzil to highlight Dhaka's heritage yesterday, the day before the BPL final. However, Cumilla captain Liton Das and Barishal captain Tamim Iqbal did not attend the trophy exhibition. Instead of them, the vice-captains of the two teams Zaker Ali and Mehidy Hasan Miraz took part in the photo session with the trophy. Dreaming of a hat-trick of champions, Cumilla never lost a final. This will give the team extra motivation in the finals. However, the vice-captain of the team Zaker Ali thinks that there is no alternative to playing well to win. He said, it is not something that I will get a trophy by reaching the final. Cumilla has been champion every time by performing. If we want to win the title, we have to perform well in the final as well.

Cumilla has consistently played well throughout the tournament. And to cope with the pressure of the final, their pair should play well. Zaker said, Cumilla is used to playing finals. We as a team know how to perform in big matches. Our focus will be there. Since the match is the final, surely Barishal has come this far by playing well. We respect all teams as opponents. The final will be no exception. I always try to play the best, I will try to play the best in the final as well.

Barishal's vice-captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz has played the BPL final twice before. But he was not lucky enough to touch the trophy. He doesn't want to give up now. Miraj wants to touch the trophy with regret. Miraz said, we never won a trophy in BPL. If we will become champion, it can be this time. Having played the final twice before, this will be the third time. We will play to become a champion. Everyone wants to be champion, Cumilla also wants to be. Those who play well on the field will win.
