On the initiative of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Directorate of Sports, for the first time, the Great Victory Day was celebrated with due dignity and pomp in various day-long events.
The national flag was hoisted at sunrise on the occasion of December 16 and Great Victory Day celebrations at the Mohammadpur Government Physical Education College ground in Dhaka and wreaths were laid at Savar National Memorial at 8 am. Various programs throughout the day such as various sports competitions for female students, preeti T20 cricket competition, breaking of pots for guests, special prayers for the peace and progress of the nation, women's sports competition, preeti volleyball competition for girls, preeti volleyball competition (sports department vs college ).
Besides, a discussion meeting and distribution of awards and interesting cultural programs were held on the theme of capturing the spirit of liberation war and the best use of digital technology in building Sonar Bangla, the dream of the father of the nation.
Ashiqul Islam, who works in the sports department, said, "I don't know that such a program has ever been organized in the sports department, I have never seen it." There was such a magnificent day-long event, it was beyond our imagination. In fact, leadership is a huge factor, and one must have the spirit of liberation war and patriotism. Our present director Tariqul Islam is the son of a brave freedom fighter and he is a brilliant, efficient and smart officer.
His dedication to work is something I have never seen before in any officer. He is uncompromising in his integrity and ethics, we hope that the sports department will move forward under the able leadership of Sir.

In this regard, Deputy Director of Sports Directorate Ferdous Alam said, the current director Tariqul Islam Sir is so hardworking, efficient and smart. He not only celebrated Victory Day but also changed the entire work of sports department.
