President Md Shahabuddin already allowed Awami League (AL) President Sheikh Hasina to form a new cabinet following her party's landslide victory in the 12th parliamentary elections. After the approval of the formation of the cabinet yesterday afternoon, the Cabinet Division issued a notification regarding the formation of the cabinet. Briefing reporters after the meeting, Cabinet Division Secretary Md Mahbub Hossain said the Cabinet Division has formally invited the new cabinet members to take oath. The new cabinet members, including the prime minister, will take oath yesterday.

The President will first administer the oath of office to the Prime Minister at Bangabhaban at 7 pm today. The President will then administer the oath to ministers, state ministers and deputy ministers. After the oath, a notification will be issued by distributing the portfolios from the Cabinet Division.
If the new cabinet is sworn in, they will be the new government of the country. The previous cabinet will remain in place until he is sworn in. If the new cabinet is sworn in, the previous cabinet will be automatically dissolved.
AL is going to form the government for the fourth consecutive time with a landslide victory in the 12th parliamentary elections. At the same time, AL President Sheikh Hasina has become the Prime Minister of the country for the fourth time in a row and the fifth time overall.
The 12th parliamentary elections were held in 299 out of 300 parliamentary seats across the country on last Sunday. Meanwhile, the Election Commission announced the results of 298 seats in Mymensingh-3 constituency. The ruling AL won 222 seats, Jatiyo Party 11, Workers Party, JSD and Kalyan Party one each and independent candidates won 62 seats.
