- Strike blockade non-cooperation movement
- Rumors of calls for activists come to Dhaka
- In office-court, thought of 'locking'
- Planning for Big movement
- Possibility of final movement with Jamaat
Only 12 days left to vote! What will the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) do? The party's high command, field-level activists, and alliance partners are also in the dark. The reliable leaders of the party say that what BNP will do, and what program the party's acting chairman Tarique Rahman thinks is unknown to all. No one knew beforehand that the non-cooperation movement was called on December 20. How it will be observed, and in which process the non-cooperation movement will be successful, no discussion or format has been established in the party alliance. After the attack on the rally and program on October 28, the first phase of strike blockade got some response, but the subsequent program and non-cooperation movement is going on very loosely.
However, the leaders and activists of the party say that instructions have come from the High Command to strictly implement the resignation of the government through street agitation. This program will be held seven to five days before the polls. Its format has already been finalized and will be announced in due course.
A special committee has also been formed in each ward of Dhaka. Jamaat has also joined these committees. A series of daily meetings are held under secrecy. Some important leaders of Dhaka said that after the non-cooperation movement, the leaders and activists of BNP and Jamaat decided to lock the important government and private offices in all the wards.
Later, it was not implemented on the instructions of the High Command. But instructions may come later. Some more important methods of peaceful discussion have been proposed. But due to unknown reasons, it is not being implemented now. In two meetings, there was a discussion about public curfew from a special medium. The program has been blocked by much of the political left. Again, two groups have encouraged the implementation of the plan. In this regard, a leader in the alliance of the Gonotontry Manch said that they did not announce this program as soon as the proposal on public curfew came.
He thinks that it is difficult to implement and involve the people. He also said that they were not aware of the recently announced non-cooperation program. After the announcement, they are no longer opposing it. Senior leaders of BNP say that there is a deep discussion with Jamaat in the fall of the government. Despite some obstacles, there is still a great possibility to hold a platform program with Jamaat. BNP will do whatever it takes to bring down the government even if there is disagreement. More importance is being given to Dhaka-centric programs in this regard. If necessary, a section of BNP Jamaat may be directed to enter Dhaka.
One of the student or youth sections will be asked to stay in their respective area. With Dhaka, the heat spread all over the country. The whole country is isolated from Dhaka in particular. In this case, the BNP will also see what the US and India say about this matter. A member of the executive committee of BNP said, as you know, Peter Hus, the US ambassador assigned to Dhaka, is in New Delhi, India to spend the Christmas holidays. He left Dhaka last Friday. We think there can be a Delhi-Washington compromise. We will go to the final decision after seeing that movement.
The Acting Chairman of our party must make effective decisions. He told us that the departure of this government would not be easy. We are told to be prepared for anything. In this regard, BNP Joint Secretary General Mahbub Uddin Khokon said that the political crisis created by the one-sided election should be dealt with on the streets. There is no other solution. I think there must be a solution.
The morale of BNP leaders and workers is strong, the decision must be made. Now just waiting for instructions and an announcement. BNP Standing Committee member Abdul Moin Khan said that our leaflet distribution and mass communication program is going on to build public opinion in favor of the vote boycott and non-cooperation movement. After that, the program will be given ahead of the polling day. The program will continue until the government falls.
The people of the country will respond to our program. Nazrul Islam Khan, a member of the Standing Committee, said, "We are on the streets in the non-cooperation movement. The ongoing movement to demand the downfall of the government and to bring back democracy and voting rights to the country will be intensified. Depending on the situation, different formats of programs are being considered. It is impossible to say what the program will be.
