Gas does not last all day. Gas arrives after 11 am and leaves before 7 am. I have come to buy a current (electric) stove under compulsion.' Said Sahana Begum, who came to buy an electric stove at a showroom in the capital's Mugda Bishwa Road area. She lives in North Mugda Commissioner's Lane area of the capital. Several other people came to buy the stove after staying in that showroom for a while. Everyone has the same complaint no gas at all during the day. The crisis has become more pronounced over the past couple of months. In some areas there is gas during the day but the pressure is very low.
Not only in that Mugda area. This gas crisis has intensified in most of the capital's areas before the full winter. Gas shortage is a regular problem in Maniknagar, Basabo, Syedabad, Jatrabari, Jurain, Kamrangirchar areas of the capital. According to most of the victims in these areas, there is no proper gas supply from 7 am to 3-4 pm. In many areas there is no way to heat the food cooked at night the next morning and afternoon. As a result, many are inclined to use electric stoves and gas cylinders. Some are cooking on kerosene stoves.
Currently, there are various types of electric ovens available in the market. However, infrared and induction stoves are at the top of customer demand. All types of pans can be used in infrared ovens. On the other hand, certain pans can be used in induction cookers. Traders are claiming that both types of ovens are energy efficient. The price starts from Tk3 thousand to Tk5-7 thousand . Apart from these two types of stoves, rice cookers, curry cookers, electric kettles are being sold. Even the demand for ovens has increased. Dipu, the manager of a showroom in Mugda Bishwa Road area, said that the demand for these things increases in winter.
Because gas is less during winter. There is a fairly good demand this time. I heard that there is no gas in several areas around. That's why people are buying more. He also said that people are looking for infrared and induction stoves more this year. Prices have increased slightly compared to last year. Rakibul, a student, lives in a mess in Jatrabari area of the capital. He said, during the day there is no gas at all. homeworker comes early in the morning and cooks. Before homeworker did not come, we used to cook and eat ourselves. But now there is no way if homeworker doesn't come sometimes. You have to buy and eat from outside all day. It also costs a lot more. A landlord in the capital's North Mugda commissioner's area said that the gas has been going out in the morning for several days. It comes at night. We landlords have been running around the Titus office for days, but there is no solution. Reactions to the gas crisis are also seen through social media. An angry person named Ismail Hossain Shahin wrote on Facebook, I live in Jatrabari-Konapara area. For many years there is no gas from 5 am to 12 pm. People will gas their car for 5 hours from 12:00 pm to 5:00 am. Tk1080 bill at the end of the month I paid which is totally wasted. I am also giving the electric bill of cylinder ,electric stove. Just keep the price of cylinder gas within Tk1000.
Not only residential, gas crisis is going on in factories too. The shift has to be closed. Production is disrupted. Due to lack of timely production, exports are suffering. Titas authorities say that we will take action if you complain as per the rules. Manjur Aziz Mohan, deputy general manager of Titas Gas's Motijheel zone, told that there is some gas shortage during winter. Demand is high in winter. Gas supply non-existent, such complaints do not come to us. If there is such problem in any area then let us know and we will solve the problem.
Earlier, Petrobangla sources said that there is always a wide gap between gas demand and production in the country. At least 4000 million cubic feet of natural gas needs to be supplied in the country. Now LNG imports from abroad, domestic gas - altogether 2700 million cubic feet are being supplied. Gas supply may decrease further in this month. So far 850 million cubic feet of LNG was supplied to the network through the terminal. Apart from this, the fertilizer factory was closed. Almost all of the resulting gas was supplied to industrial plants. Now that the fertilizer factory has started, gas has to be supplied there. At the same time, 600 million cubic feet of LNG is being supplied to the LNG terminal. Therefore, the gas crisis has become acute.
