The National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedic Rehabilitation (NITOR) is commonly known as 'Pongu Hospital'. The hospital is well known across the country for its complex treatment of human bones. This hospital is also called the bone treatment center in the country. Patients from all over the country flocked to the service every day. The 1000 bed hospital is always full of patients. In the hospital, the pressure of patients injured in various accidents increases every Eid.

This Eid-ul-Azha was no exception. At other times, only road accident injured patients were more, but Eid al-Azha includes various injured patients from animal slaughter. According to the data of the emergency department of the hospital, 1532 people have been treated in the emergency department of the hospital in the next six days including the Eid day. Out of which 322 people received treatment only on Eid day.

The reason for the increased number of patients on the day of Eid is that 111 people have been treated for being infected by sacrificial animals. During Eid, the number of patients increases from one to one and a half times. Special arrangements were made in the hospital to handle the increased patient pressure. The leave of doctors, nurses and other service-related personnel was shortened. Adequate manpower was kept in the emergency department. Medical equipment was stocked. The hospital has been appreciated by the health care department due to the attitude of serving the patients and the activity of the doctors on Eid. Talking to some of the people who received services at the hospital during the Eid holidays, it was known about their satisfaction with the services.

Anwar Hossain, a resident of Rampura in the capital. He is a private employee by profession. Every year, Idul Azha participates with the butcher in cutting the animal during animal slaughter. He told The Daily Post that his left leg was injured by the sacrificial animal. As it was Eid day, I was worried whether I would get treatment here or not. But after coming to the emergency department, I saw more patients than usual. With the treatment here, my foot condition is improving a lot. The doctor said that after another week I will be able to walk normally.

Ramiz Ali of Faridpur is currently receiving treatment in the male ward of the hospital after being seriously injured in a motorcycle accident. This reporter of my news spoke to him about the hospital's services.

He told The Daily Post, "On the day of Eid, when I was going to my sister's house, the truck hit the back of my motorcycle. As a result, I fell down and injured my left arm and spine. When I was taken to Sadar Hospital, the doctor on duty asked to bring me to Pongu Hospital in Dhaka. I was brought here on the day of Eid around 11 pm. After coming here, the doctor advises admission after necessary tests. It has been a week since I was admitted and receiving treatment. Patient pressure is always high here.

He said, doctors and nurses are trying to serve us even under the pressure of patients. Not only patient services during Eid, special food is also provided for the doctors, nurses and patients on duty in the hospital as per the instructions of the Health Department. According to the hospital, special food was arranged for around seven hundred patients on Eid.
