Members of the Rohingya Solidarity Organization (RSO) are fighting against the Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) in the fight for freedom. Rohingya youths who took part in the fight say that the shelling and arson going on for the last two days at the zero line of Tumbru border in Naikkhongchari of Bandarban is the manifestation of that fight.

They say that this fight has been going on since 2018. Four-five armed groups of 85 members of RSO are active in this fight. They are fighting against Arsa with AK-47, M-16 and grenades. Rohingya settlements on the zero line are burning because of that fight. However, the locals say that the conflict is going on with the Myanmar army. However, Bangladesh is not able to know the real situation as the incidents of firing and arson are on the zero line. Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members have strengthened their patrols in Ghumdhum, Tumbru, Baishari outpost, Konarpara, Madhyampara areas of the border since this fight, which is beyond the jurisdiction of BGB or local administration. Apart from this, RAB-Police are also maintaining strict surveillance.

Naikshyongchari Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Romen Sharma said, after the incident, the matter has been informed to the higher authorities and the Cabinet Division and the Ministry of Home Affairs have also been informed. If further instructions are received, action will be taken accordingly.

Meanwhile, a member of RSO named Hamidullah was killed in the fight against Arsa on the other side of the border. Fortunately, he was shot at the same time and survived. Young Rohingya Muhib Ullah is drunk with the hope of freedom. Muhib Ullah said that they are fighting against the Rohingya Salvation Army to ``liberate‍‍`‍‍` their region.

Rohingya youth Muhib Ullah said that he is proficient in various weapons including AK-47, M-16. He was also shot on Wednesday morning during a cross-border exchange of gunfire across the Tumbru border. At the same time, one of his companions named Hamidullah was shot dead. They are members of the Rohingya Solidarity Organization (RSO). Muhib Ullah went across the border to fight against Arsa in 2018 itself. He is now undergoing treatment at Chittagong Medical College Hospital‍‍`s surgery department after being injured in the shooting. He was shot in the right side below the chest and in the right hand. The chest was surgically removed on Thursday. Doctors said that his condition is now stable. The doctors said that he will undergo surgery on his hand.

Muhib Ullah said that a group of 85 people went to liberate their native Maungdu region of Myanmar in 2018. They are fighting since then. At various times, their shootings happened with Arsa. Sometimes on the border, sometimes inside the border in different regions of Myanmar. Muhib Ullah said, their house was in Mangdu, Myanmar. Their houses were burnt in 2017. After that, they moved to the Rohingya camp in Teknaf along with their parents, brothers and sisters. They lived in Jadimura camp. His father‍‍`s name is Dildar Ahmed. Muhib Ullah, the third of four brothers and a sister, studied English at the camp. He went to Myanmar four years ago from the camp and started the war. Muhib Ullah said, they have burnt our houses. We went for revenge. All of our team of 85 can wield weapons. We have many weapons including AK-47, M-16. We lived in the jungles of Myanmar. They used to eat and drink there. However, he did not say anything about who is the leader of their party, who went to war on whose words. Muhib Ullah claimed to know Rohingya Salvation Army (Arsa) chief Ataullah even though he did not know the leader of his party. He said that he had heard about Ataullah, but had never met him. He also does not know what RSO‍‍`s dispute with Arsa is about.

This vindictive Rohingya youth said that there are three-four other groups like this group of 85 people of RSO. All 85 people have weapons in their hands, including grenades. Muhib Ullah said that the shelling started towards Myanmar from last Tuesday night. At one point in the morning we surrounded them. I had an AK-47. I was shot at around 6 am after giving Fajr Azan. At the same time another one of ours named Hamidullah was shot dead.

Muhib Ullah was first admitted to Kutupalong Health Center and then to Chittagong Medical College Hospital after being injured in the shooting. His brother-in-law Shakeel is with him in the hospital. Shakeel said, they came to Teknaf from Mangdu in 2017. A year later, Muhib Ullah left for Myanmar to fight. They were informed after being shot last Wednesday.

Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of Hospital Police Outpost Alauddin Talukdar said, after being brought to the hospital, he underwent surgery. The people there are in fear of the ongoing incident at Tumbru border. UNO Romain Sharma said that the concerned persons or forces including the BGB have no authority to intervene at the Zero Line. As a result, the actual situation there is not known. However, as far as the news is available, it seems that about 550 houses in the shelter camp were burnt down in Wednesday‍‍`s incident. 70 to 80 houses are still intact.

Meanwhile, the leader of the Rohingya community, Dil Mohammad, said that several Rohingyas fled to Myanmar after the shootings and arson on Wednesday. Everyone panicked with the sudden incidents.

Ghumdhum UP Chairman Jahangir Aziz said that on Wednesday afternoon, the huts of Rohingyas living on the Zero Line were burnt by the fire set by the terrorists. At that time, many Rohingya including women and children took refuge in Ghumdhum Union Parishad of Naikshyongchari. Later they were taken from there to Tumbru Government Primary School. BGB, RAB and police have maintained strict surveillance in the area.
