Shamim Ebrahim, the sales manager of a butcher shop at Malibagh intersection was listening to meow sound all day long in his workplace on 3 October. He invented a live little cat on the next day that was stranded over the top of the flyover pillar. He called to 999 for rescue the little cat, and they delivered the animal rescuer firm Robinhood's number.
When he called Robinhood to rescue the helpless cat, Robinhood refused to rescue the helpless cat.
Munni Ara Islam, a resident of Khilgaon lost her cat on the rooftop of her building, she found the cat on the sunshade of the 4th floor. She called 999, the Fire service, the Forest division, and Robinhood the animal rescuer.
Here no one has come to rescue the helpless cat although the kitty (baby cat) of the cat died yesterday for the sake of mother's milk. To alive the stranded cat, Munni delivers dry fish and bread every day to a neighbor of the building aside.
We called Robin-hood about his negligence, and Afzal Khan well-known for Robinhood replied we got a letter from the high court in April where the court directed us not to take part in any kind of rescue before higher training about rescue despite there being no proper room for higher training for animals rescue in our country. As an animal lover, every call touched my heart, but I couldn't do anything.
Afzal Khan, chairman of the Animal Welfare Foundation of Bangladesh was deed with National Service 999 on 30 October 2019. and home ministry wrote another letter on 4 February 2024 to resume the rescue service with Robinhood.
Afzal Khan said, I rescued helpless animals since 2010, and about 1 lakh animals were rescued by my team before stopped the work.
Delwar Hossain, president of Katabon Pet Market said, two of my customers gave me two dogs to kill as they were paralysis. I couldn't, because as an animal trader, I have a sophisticated mind on animals. I have adopted them for 17 years. so our country must have the capability to save helpless animals and rescue them. we should not have any discrimination in rescuing animals.
Mahmud Hossain, Managing Director of Animal Planet Bangladesh said, our fire service department should have the capability like equipment, and training like the developed country. As a human being, we should take care of our animals also.
An official of 999 said declined to his name that there are many calls to rescue helpless animals every day but the fire service and forest department do have not the capacity to rescue animals from all places.
Md. Shahjahan Sikder, Senior Staff officer of the fire service media department said to the Daily Post that we can rescue all kinds of animals but we have some restrictions. Suppose we do not drive underwater while it is night because of the strong current and turbidity. Animals can live in a crucial environment.
We called Brigadier General Muhammad Jahed Kamal, NDC, afwc, psc, the Director of General Fire Service about the matter but he did not receive our call.
