Though there are more peaceful and enlightened people than the bad gangs or individuals. It is a fact that an armed man is more powerful than ten non-armed good people. That is why country’s people have right to be worried about their life and democratic and peaceful movement.
The activity of openly armed terrorists is increasing throughout the country including the capital. As a result, the incidents of murder and conflict are also increasing. After the political change, the law and order situation has deteriorated. Murders, attacks, vandalism, robbery, extortion are happening every day in some of the corner of the country. As a result, common people are not at ease. In the last two months, 625 people have been killed across the country. However, the crime scene in the capital and Chattogram is worse. Every day people are being beaten to death for trivial reasons including murder, robbery, encroachment, and extortion in some area.
Moreover, most of the weapons looted from the police station have not been recovered yet. Those weapons are also being used in terrorist activities. This information is known from sources related to the law and order forces. According to the relevant sources, recently a group of extortionist terrorists openly fired with heavy weapons in the Kalarpool area of Bayezid Bostami police station of Chattogram city. They attacked a businessman with a shotgun after being failed to robber Tk five lakh. The police received a complaint that a local youth was shot dead at noon in Chattogram for protesting against the terrorist activities of those extortionists.
Moreover, recently a group of terrorists were involved in killing a person in Mohammadpur Geneva camp of the capital. They all are drug dealers of the camp. They have established a reign of terror in the Bihari camp for a long time. They walk openly with weapons. At least seven other groups like them are involved in terrorist activities in the camp and all are drug dealers. Moreover, a group of people beat a young man to death in Basila area of Mohammadpur. A day later, the terrorists entered the office of Mohammadpur Shia Mosque Kachabazar Market and shot the president of the market and his younger brother in public. They are now fighting death in the hospital.
Two days after that, in the busy road of Mohammadpur Mohammadia Housing Limited area, armed robbers beat up the official of the private Nestle Company and stole Tk 11 lakh 85 thousand.
Before this, fierce clashes took place in the Geneva camp for four days. A young man died in the shooting. Another person was shot in the neck on the same day. Clashes followed again throughout the week and an autorickshaw driver was shot dead. Besides, a child was also killed in the cocktail blast and shooting.
According to sources, the law and order situation is not normal due to reckless criminals. Murders are happening every day in the country including the capital. Openly armed men roam about. However, the police are investigating after receiving the information about the murder with illegal weapons. At the same time, more than 300 illegal weapons have already been recovered in the joint operation to recover illegal weapons. At that time 174 terrorists were arrested. The weapons recovered include 19 revolvers, 76 pistols, 22 rifles, 37 shotguns, 8 pipe guns, 43 shooter guns, 31 LG guns, 48 guns, one AK47, five SMGs, four gas guns, 10 air guns, 10 SBBLs, two tear gas launchers and Three-quarter two.
Meanwhile, according to crime experts, if the illegal weapons are not recovered, the chaos in the society will increase. The situation is getting worse. Many people have already died in the shooting. Human rights are being violated. If these incidents are not controlled quickly, the situation will worsen.
On the other hand, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md Moinul Islam said that the police are working to control crime in the country. Many terrorists have already been arrested. Many illegal weapons were recovered.
